The community gardens at Sholan Farms are open seasonally from Memorial Day to
Columbus Day. Individual garden plots are available to residents of Leominster and the
surrounding towns. Each garden measures approximately 15 feet by 15 feet and is
currently $30 for the season (subject to change annually). The gardens are tilled prior to
each planting season and water spigots are provided (hand watering only – no hoses).
All gardeners must agree to abide by the community rules for caring for their plot
throughout the season as well as complete a liability waiver. Gardeners are responsible
for providing their own plants, tools, and other necessary supplies, as well as cleaning
up their garden at the end of the season.
Because Sholan Farms is a working orchard, the community gardens sometimes close
temporarily during pesticide applications. Gardeners must agree to remain out of the
orchard during these times. Pets are not allowed in the garden area.
Returning gardeners have first priority for plots each season, but most years there are
several spaces available for newcomers. If all plots are taken, we maintain a waiting list
and will contact people as spots open up. Registration begins in April and continues
until the gardens are full for the season.
If you would like more information about the gardens or would like to be added to the
2025 season waitlist, please email Cyndi Manuel at [email protected].
